INJECTIONS
FOR MEN
Botox, fillers, and other facial injections are not just for women! Men can benefit from the subtle, natural enhancements and improvements obtained with facial injectable treatments.
Neuromodulators are a type of injectable medication used to relax specific muscles in the face that contribute to unwanted lines and wrinkles. Commonly treated areas in men are the "angry-11" vertical lines between the eyebrows, horizontal forehead wrinkles, and crows feet (around the eyes.)
Fillers can be used in men to soften lines, wrinkles, and grooves of the face but more commonly are used to build structure and support in the face. Commonly injected areas are the chin, jawline, and tear trough.

AM I A GOOD CANDIDATE FOR NEUROMODULATORS OR FILLERS?
Men are good candidates for neuromodulator treatment if they have one more of the following aesthetic concerns. These are the most commonly requested and performed treatment areas:
-

Men may also have concerns that can benefit from filler placement. Below are some of the reasons men seek filler treatment:

increase volume and contour of the cheeks
-
improve volume and contour of the chin and jawline
-
fill in hollowing of the tear trough "eye bag" region
-
fill in hollowing of the upper eyelids, eyebrows, or temple region
-
non-surgical "liquid" rhinoplasty to make changes to the appearance of the nose

HOW IS A NEUROMODULATOR OR FILLER TREATMENT PERFORMED?
Neuromodulators
-
Sometimes injections are done to “treat” a problem that already exists, but injections are also performed to “prevent” unwanted lines or wrinkles of the face. A typical treatment session is 15-30 minutes and involves multiple tiny injections of the desired treatment area. Dr. Gerecci values patient comfort and utilizes multiple techniques to help minimize discomfort during the treatment session. She makes sure each patient understands what product is being used, what dosage, what treatment areas, expected outcomes, risks/benefits of treatment, cost, and is given detailed explanations and instructions. A complimentary follow up visit is scheduled 2 weeks after injection to ensure patients are satisfied with their results and any questions or concerns are addressed.

WHAT TO EXPECT AFTER NEUROMODULATOR OR FILLER TREATMENT
Neuromodulators

Some patients may experience bruising after their injections. There is usually not swelling after injections. It can take up to 3-4 days before an effect is noticed, but some people may notice a difference as early as 1-2 days. Peak effect is usually reached by 10-14 days. Duration of effect depends on the type of product used and the amount of product used. Most people see the product effect wear off in 3-4 months.
Fillers

Some patients may experience bruising after their injections. Swelling may also occur and usually peaks around 3 days after injections and resolves within 1 week. Duration of filler effect depends on the type of product used and the amount of product used.
ARE THERE ALTERNATIVES TO FACIAL INJECTION TREATMENTS?
Depending on your desired aesthetic result, there may be some alternative treatments available. In some situations, a surgical procedure is recommended depending on your goals and concerns.
